Why Should You Take a Cruise Vacation?

Have you considered taking a cruise vacation but just aren't sure if it would be right for you? With all the cruise lines available, all the cruise destinations, the range of prices, there is a cruise for just about everyone.

On a cruise you don't drive anywhere for while you are vacationing. Now, even if you were on a bus tour with no driving yourself, you haul your luggage or at least pack and unpack it at each stop. On a cruise, you check your luggage when you check in and it appears in your cabin, stateroom, or suite. You unpack once. The staff will tell you when to place your bags outside your accommodations at the end of the cruise and, your luggage will be waiting for you on shore in the cruise terminal. You can also carry your own luggage off the ship if you prefer. Taking a cruise vacation frees you from some of the hassles of traveling because you have a ship full of staff whose goal is to see to it that you are spoiled.

All meals in the main dining rooms and the buffet areas are included in the price of your cruise and great food is often considered part of the entertainment. Most cruise ships offer options in restaurants and snack bars on board. Typically, there is a greatl breakfast and lunch buffet. Or you can eat breakfast or lunch in one of the ship's restaurants, ordering exactly what you want from the menu, prepared fresh for you. Restaurants are usually open for meals for extended hours and buffets are generally open all day and into the night. Have you heard of the midnight buffet available on some cruises?

There are things to do 24 hours a day. Cruise ships have wonderflu theatres which have wonderful shows and entertainment, all included in the cruise price. There is unique entertainment in the theatre every evening of the cruise. Most ships also have a number of themed bars, lounges, and discos with live entertainment that are open into the early morning hours. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are not typically included in the cruise price. Most ships also provide a casino that is open while the ship is in international waters.

If night life isn't your style, you can enjoy the onboard pool, spa, library, fitness center, and other amenities. Many cruises now offer classes on a variety of topics during the day. If you have children on the cruise, there are usually play areas and programs geared to different age groups.

Your cruise ship is a destination in itself. Cruises typically stop at a different port of call on certain days and have days at sea, depending upon the itinerary. You may stay onboard the ship all day or go ashore at any stop. You are free to explore each destination on your own as long as you return to the ship by the designated time. Typically, destinations for ships that sail from the continental U.S. accept U.S. currency. No need to exchange money for each country you may visit.

Cruise lines offer a variety of shore excursions at additional cost. For example, Caribbean cruises offer snorkeling, diving or beach excursions while Alaskan cruises offer helicopter tours or dogsled trips. For the less adventuresome, normally there are bus tours or supervised shopping excursions in the local port.

A cruise vacation is a great value. You are on a floating resort which carries you to exotic ports of call, provides great onboard entertainment and offers you a huge variety of dining options. What are you waiting for? Book your cabin today!

This is a High School Reunion Group onboard the Carnival Triumph

A cruise is a great choice for your high school reunion. There is plenty of entertainment, food and fellowship available onboard the ship. Not to mention the shore excursions and exotic destinations. Cruise ships offer free meeting space and a great environment for celebrating your time together.
I wanted to tell you about my cruise onboard Norwegian Cruise Line's Spirit. 7-day round-trip New Orleans, LA - Roatan, Honduras - Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala - Belize City, Belize - Cozumel, Mexico - New Orleans, LA.

The Spirit is a beautiful ship that is clean and very well maintained. It has all of the usual facilities that cruise ships have, like a spa, hot tubs, gym, pool, casino, etc. There are a multitude of choices in dining! The food is good and it is plentiful. You can eat at a different restaurant every night if you would like and never eat at the same one. NCL has the freestyle dining, which we love. This is where you don't have an assigned dining room, time, table........no assigned anything with regards to dining. You can eat when you want, where you want and with whom you want.

The ports of call offer great water for snorkeling and diving or just baking on the beach. Lots of sun and sand to play in. I would definitely take a shore excursion in Belize and Guatemala. In Roatan and Cozumel, you can take a cab to one of the super beaches. In Cozumel (I love Cozumel!) you can shop, go to the beach.......there are alot of choices there. I always recommend that anyone who goes to Cozumel, go to the East side of the island. It is beautiful and not very populated or commercialized there. The east side of the island is on the Caribbean Sea and is just beautiful. There are some roadside bars here and there and one "hotel" there. Otherwise, it is pretty wide open. This cruise is one that I would recommend to anyone who wants to go on a cruise where you can relax, read books and just chill. Don't expect to have a wide variety of entertainment and super activities. I did have a nice time. It was one of the most relaxing cruises I have been on.

GULF CRUISES OPERATING NORMALLYJune 18, 2010 Most of us are deeply concerned about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and its impact on the environment and the people that live and work in the local communities. Officials are monitoring the situation closely and continuing to operate all scheduled Gulf itineraries without disruption. Ships sailing from New Orleans and Mobile are making slight course alterations as necessary to avoid the most heavily impacted spill areas. At this time, we are not anticipating any impact to our normal cruise schedules across the entire fleet. Our guests continue to enjoy all that a Carnival cruise has to offer, from waterslides, delicious dining and fabulous entertainment onboard, to pristine beaches and interesting cultural experiences in our ports of call.We also encourage all of our guests sailing from Gulf home ports, especially New Orleans and Mobile, to spend a few days before or after your cruise in these cities and surrounding areas. It's a great way to stretch your vacation and enjoy all of the local hospitality and attractions those areas have to offer. Thank you.
